Archaeology of the Near East

At the Skirball's Archaeology Discovery Center and, modeled after an ancient town discovered in the Near East, students use authentic tools of the trade to excavate "artifacts," collect and analyze findings, and present hypotheses about the history, commerce, religion, and cultural practices of people from the Iron Age. Students examine ancient artifacts and replicas to make connections between life in the ancient world and today.

On Tuesday November 28th, sixth graders will travel to the Skirball Cultural Center for a special program to learn to "dig and analyze" to get to the roots of early humankind. Students MUST depart early from La Canada Preparatory at 8:15 a.m. and they will return to the campus at 1:30 p.m.

Students will need to bring a sack lunch, including snack and drinks, in a clearly labeled disposable bag. Please make sure that you do not order Choicelunch on a field trip day.

If you would like your child to attend this trip, please complete and return the attached Field Trip Permission form by Monday, November 13th, 2017.
