Griffith Observatory

Soon after opening in 1935, Griffith Observatory initiated one of the first school visit programs in the region. Generations of Los Angeles-area students made the pilgrimage in buses up Mount Hollywood for an experience under the stars...

On Wednesday, Novembeer 29th, 2017, our 5th-grade students will be traveling to the world-renowned Griffith Park Observatory. They are invited to experience a special program just for 5th graders. This will include a two-and-a-half hour program using the Observatory's telescope, exhibit, and building content as well as programs in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium and Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theater. Museum guides and observatory lecturers will guide students in standards-baased learning experiences using their unique facilities.

Students will be departing La Canada Preparatory at 8:00 a.m. and returning to the campus at 1:30 p.m. Please note the early departure time.

Students will need to bring a sack lunch, including snack and drinks, in a clearly labeled disposable bag. Please make sure that you do not order Choicelunch on a field trip day.

If you would like your child to attend this trip, please complete and return the attached Field Trip Permission form to the La Canada Preparatory office by Monday, November 13th, 2017.
