The 46th Blue Ribbon Children's Festival

Fifth Grade

Wednesday, February 14th, 2018

The Children's Festival is sponsored by The Blue Ribbon, a support group of the Music Center founded in 1968 by Dorothy Buffum Chandler. The annual festival began in 1970 as part of the Music Center's commitment to engage young people in the arts and is one of California's longest ongoing free arts education programs.

The Blue Ribbon Children's Festival is an annual program specifically designed for fifth-grade students to attend a live, professional performance at The Music Center. Following each performance, all participating students perform a short choreographed dance inspired by the production.

The 2018 Children's Festival program features the all-male Argentinian dance company, Che Malambo. Captivating audiences with their powerful dance and music performances, Che Malambo blends precision footwork, rhythmic stomping, drumming and song, which is at the heart of the gaucho (South American cowboy.)

Our fifth graders have the opportunity to attend the Blue Ribbon Children's Festival at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018. They will depart the school at 8:00 a.m. and will return at approximately 12:00 p.m. in time for lunch.

Do not let your child miss out on this special opportunity. Please complete and return the attached field trip permission form by Friday, February 2nd, 2018.
