At The Learning Castle and La Cañada Preparatory, our focus is predicated on the individual success of every student and the promotion of the critical skills students will need in future academic pursuits.
Our summer school program is a six-week, academically based educational program that is divided into to three two-week sessions; wherein, we offer a comprehensive curriculum focusing on core subjects.
With the continuous support of our parent body, we are able to give our students the highest quality education and provide them with the opportunities to develop their individual skills and to achieve their personal best.
Our preschool, The Sand Castle, offers full-time schedules for children between the ages of two and four years old. The Sand Castle provides a loving, nurturing environment wherein children can blossom educationally, emotionally and socially.
We pride ourselves on creating a diverse student body and desire to share the unique TLC-LCP experience with students of different cultures, backgrounds and nationalities.

Athletic Teams
LCP fields twelve teams in the following seven sports: Flag Football, Girls’ Volleyball, Coed Tennis, Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball, and Girls’ and Boys’ Soccer.
The LCP boys handily defeated Huntington Middle School today, 27-11, securing an overall match score of 37-22. The win gives LCP its' 13th league title.

During the annual spring Gala on Saturday, April 20, 2024, The Learning Castle and La Canada Preparatory presented the 2024 Diamond Service Award for outstanding volunteerism to Dr. Tina Ghotanian.
On May 10, 2024, the La Cañada Preparatory Athletic Department hosted its annual awards banquet in the Foothill Intermediate School gymnasium for the 140 student-athletes, family and friends who were in attendance.
On Saturday, March 16, the LCP Lady Knights faced off against the New Horizon School in the Foothill Sports League Championship Game at Mayfield Senior School.
On March 11, 2024, the 74th-Annual Los Angeles County Science and Engineering Fair showcased over 900 individual and student-team projects at USC’s Shrine Exposition Hall. The fair featured some of the most accomplished middle- and high-school students that the county has to offer. Eighteen categories, ranging from chemistry and microbiology to environmental studies to artificial intelligence, comprised the Junior Division from which La Canada Preparatory gleaned two First-Place winners, one Second Place, one Third Place and an Honorable-Mention.
On Saturday, March 23rd, The Learning Castle and La Canada Preparatory’s performing arts department presented their annual spring production, Broadway Junior Revue 2: The Next Level, before near-capacity crowds at La Canada’s own Lanterman Auditorium.
On Friday, January 26th, local La Cañada private schools, The Learning Castle and La Cañada Preparatory, held their 23rd-Annual Science Fair. Over 95 entrants, ranging in age from eight to thirteen, proudly displayed their experiments which covered eight different scientific disciplines.
The Learning Castle and The Sand Castle Preschool presented their annual winter shows on Thursday, December 21, at the Lanterman Auditorium before enthusiastic audiences of parents, friends and family.
LCP avenged their November 28th loss at South Pasadena with a big win today at LCP, taking the season series 74-67 and thereby securing a twelfth league championship.
La Canada Canada Preparatory held Student Council Elections on Tuesday. Forty candidates ran for thirteen positions from president to class representative. Officers made campaign speeches to the student body on Tuesday morning while candidates for class representative made speeches in the classroom.
After six weeks and seventy-one games, the Fifteenth Annual LCP Chess Tournament concluded on May 31st with sixth grader Gayane Pogosyan taking home the all-school title.
On Thursday, June 1, 2023, twenty-four graduating eighth-grade students from La Cañada Preparatory, adorned in blue baccalaureate caps and gowns, processed down the aisles of Lanterman Auditorium to “Pomp and Circumstance” before administration, faculty, family and friends.
In lieu of open houses, The Learning Castle and La Canada Preparatory offer small group tours with our founder and director, Terry Villanueva. Parents tour the facilities, peek in on classes, and see the entire campus as it is on any given school day.
