The LCP boys defeated Glendale Academy on Saturday night to win the Foothill Sports League championship for the first time since 2014.
Under the lights at St. Francis High School, LCP's defense did what it has done all season, stifle opposing offenses. In a defensive struggle which saw a scoreless game into the fourth quarter, LCP finally managed a sustained 70-yard drive to score the game's first touchdown with five minutes to play. The Knights converted on a two-point conversion to go ahead 8-0.
On the ensuing kickoff, Glendale got a great return into Knight territory, setting up a nailbiter of a finish. With just over one minute to play, Glendale punched it in on the ground for their first and only touchdown of the night.
With the clock stopped, Glendale attempted a two-point conversion to tie the game but came up short.
After the kickoff, LCP lined up in victory formation and ran out the clock for the win.
LCP completed the 2024 season with an unbeaten 8-0 record. Congratulations to Coach Greg, Coach Aiden and the 2024 Knights' Flag Football Team.
