Clubs and Enrichment

Chess Club

The LCP Chess Club meets every Wednesday during lunch from 12:30 to 1:10 p.m. in Room 206 (the upper school science room). Club competition consists of 24-minute speed matches wherein players compete for steps on a challenge ladder. Each Winter/Spring, the club hosts an open tournament to raise money for the clubs. LCP Chess Club is open to students in the 3rd through the 8th grades.

TLC Chess Club meets every Thursday during lunch from 12:40 to 1:15 p.m. in Room P6 on the TLC campus. This club consists of untimed friendly matches only. TLC Chess Club is open to 2nd and 3rd graders.

History Club

The purpose of the LCP History Club is twofold: to engage students in history in a fun and relaxed manner outside the classroom, and to prepare students for local history bees. Students use a wide array of resource materials to greatly improve their knowledge of world and Amercian history.

History Club meets every Thursday during lunch from 12:20 to 1:10 p.m. This is a semi-annual club running from February to May.

Robotics/Coding Club

The LCP Robotics/Coding Club is for those students who are serious about engineering. Members will expand upon their knowledge and exceed the standards of the regular enrichment course.

The Robotics/Coding club meets every Monday from 12:30 to 1:10 p.m. in the Computer Lab.

Art Club

The LCP Art Club provides supervised time with the school's art teacher to explore outside the confines of the regular curriculum. Students can spend time on personal projects while receiving suggestions and technical assistance.

Zero Period

Both TLC and LCP offer a Zero Period. Zero Period starts at 8:00 a.m. every day and ends on the bell for the start of classes at 8:45 a.m. Zero Period is a supervised free play period wherein students can play basketball, GaGa ball, table tennis, etc.

Debate Club

Debate Club gives students of all abilities a fun way to develop their oracy skills, improve their critical thinking skills and become more confident communicators. Members also become more informed about political and global affairs in the proces. The LCP Debate Club is intended to introduce students for debate in high school.

The club meets every Tuesday durning lunch from 12:30 to 1:10 p.m. in Room 204. Debate Club is a semi-annual club running from September to February.

Ancestry Club

The purpose of Ancestry Club is to assist students in discovering more about their family geneologies. Members use the Ancestry.com application to find out who their ancestors are, what region of the country/world their families are from and how their ancestors found their way to Southern California.

Ancestry Club meets every Tuesday during lunch from 12:30 to 1:10 p.m. in Room 204. This is a semi-annual club meeting From February through May.

Student Government

Each September, LCP elects a student council from among their peers. The student council not only gives the student body a voice within the schools’ administration but also sponsors annual events and fundraisers throughout the year.

The student council is made up of the following seventh and eighth-grade officers: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and sergeant-at-arms. In addition, each of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth-grade classes elects one representative to the council. Students may also volunteer to be on the council as at-large members.

Geography Club

The purpose of the LCP Geography Club is twofold: to engage students in geography in a fun and relaxed manner outside the classroom, and to prepare students for the geography bee season, which begins each January and runs through May. Students use materials from the National Geographic NatGeo Bee website as well as other resource materials to greatly improve their knowledge of the world in which we live.

Geography Club meets every Thursday during lunch from 12:30 to 1:10 p.m. This is a semi-annul club running from September to February.

Volunteer Club

The Volunteer Club engourges philanthropy throughout the campus and the community. Members collect canned goods and articles of clothing for the homeless; volunteer to serve Thanksgiving dinner to the less fortunate; and visit children who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses in the hospital.

Volunteer Club meets every Friday from 12:30 to 1:10 p.m. in Room 204.
